Introduction
Education is a fundamental key to open new horizon in surviving our new diversity culture. It’s so crucial than there are for a cluster of people in our society such as for those who being diagnose with several unfortunate disabilities (atypical) such as ADD, Dyslexia, ADHD, Down syndrome and etc. As for those who contribute in their needs and support these group were supposed to be called a protective angels. I here list down the early intervention school that feed their need to learn and adapt with the whole environment then, followed by private school to cater their need to learn as normal kids (typical) in school.
Early intervention is the first step to increase their learning skill and refine their other skill yet to be developed. Thus, equip them further to a mainstream school.
I would like to segregate two of those providers that cater these education programmes to different need for atypical learners and typical learners that I would like to define more on them. The following lists will give you an eye opener to those special needs cater different types of education programmes for your kid’s different strengths and abilities.
Parents and caregivers should always alert and detect which programmes that suit their needs to maximize their potential and soar independently for the rest of their journey ahead. There is always a solution for all causes. You can see the list scroll to various non-profitable and profitable providers.

A very important assignment for our educational philosophy is to give the hearing impaired students equal educational possibilities, broaden educational horizons for the students, and to encourage the hearing society to train young hearing impaired people on attractive, technically-oriented occupations and offer them career prospects. In the process of educating them we train them not only in the academics and acquisition of skills but also to give them a sound and good human formation. Our vision is to mold each hearing impaired child and youth into an educated, trained, useful and contributing tax-paying citizen of Malaysia. |

The differences between ‘KidzGrow’ and ‘eipautism’ can be segregate into four categories. That are in terms of products that they cater, environment, process and content of each programmes offered. ‘KidzGrow’ provide to most common atypical and typical needs in a child. Such as Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficits Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Auditory Processing Disorder (APD), Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), Dysgraphia, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Sensory Integration Disorder, Non-verbal Learning Disorder, Receptive and Expressive Language Difficulty, Speech and Language Delay, Hyperlexia, Mild Intellectual Impairment, Mild Autism Spectrum Disorder, Asperger Syndrome and Mild to moderate hearing impairment, but for ‘eipautism’ only cater for those with Mild Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD and ADD both are dealing with.
They are both located at a shop lot building premises. They have equipped the room with different types of programmes and cater the individual programmes. ‘KitzGrow’ allows at the age of 3-16 years old while eipautism provides the need at the age of 4 to 11 years old. The ‘eip’ programmes and ‘KitzGrow’ handles one on one basic teaching technique. They individualise divided the programmes that suits the child best.
Both of these cater only for the placement of the individual in their learning abilities to make sure they can adapt better to a mainstream school in future or a special educational school. They sharpen the tool that these kids need to perform in educational environment.
For those who wish to enrol their kids to these facilities; ‘KidzGrow’ will conduct the Learning Skill Evaluation tests (LSE). This is a series of international standard tests/ assessment that objectively scores the child learning abilities in these areas; eye motor movement (effective for reading), muscle controlled (motor skill), integration of visual and cognitive skill (essential for comprehension, reading and reasoning). It will take two hour times one hour per session that is not concurrently. After LSE completed, the journey begin to conclude a report with a timeframe of one to two weeks will be required. They will present the tabulated report to the parent during feedback session till the findings and recommendations hands off with parents to proceed.
In a mean time, to enrol with eipautism, parent will have a psychological assessment. It will conducted by a clinical psychologist via appointment. Generally, this assessment consist interview and standardised tests. The test each child may vary depending on the age and their capabilities. It will cover cognitive function or IQ, learning difficulties, ADD/ADHD, Autism, Adaptive Behaviour and school functioning. It will prolong for two to two and a half hours. The report will be tabulated within two weeks. They also conduct a Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy Assessment. It will be held on the first session that the children have with them. Base on the diagnosis, they will implement a plan for the teacher and the parent so they aware of their kids needs and challenges.
‘KidzGrow’ extinguish a programmes based on these names listed, REVAMP(stands for restoring esteem visual auditory motor process) is an in-house programmes that target the foundation body systems in the body, through gym-based and desktop activities to improve rapidly their abilities to learn. These will reinforce their visual and auditory skills that are essentials for effective learning. This will take for two sessions per week for each session consume for 6o minutes and will stretch for 6-12 weeks.
Next are, A-Vamp (stands for applying visual, auditory, motor and social skills) is to help students strengthen and apply the skills in a small group setting. It will include age appropriate movement activities as well as table top exercises and worksheets. This will be conducted within 16 weeks for a session in a week, that follows within 60 minutes in each session.
The programmes continue with the Play Attention measures brain waves and presents feedback in a video-game format. This is a patented advance of technology that NASA astronauts and the US Air Force pilots use to stay attentive in the cockpit. The same technology is used to overcome attention, concentration and focus issues. It will retrain the brain to think more clearly, more attentively and with more focus. System begins with a sensor-lined helmet that resembles one used for bicycling. The sensors monitor attentive state and thinking process, which is fed into a small interface system that attaches to the computer. Users complete a series of video game-like exercises that are controlled by the mind alone. They can see and hear real-time feedback of how they’re progressing in focusing, finishing tasks, increasing memory, and filtering out distractions. This is called Edufeedback which is continuous and immediate. Research shows this type of feedback significantly increases attention and response control. Within short time, behaviour can be modified to reduce or eliminate calling out, fidgeting, impulsivity and so on, while improving time-on-task, focus, comprehension and more. This process will take at least 40 session in total with a twice a week therapy in an hour for each session.
Last of the outstanding programmes instil for the kids needs is The Fast ForWord is the neuroscience approach to reading intervention. It will improve auditory process, ability to receive instructions, reading, spelling and comprehension, attention and memory, receptive and expressive language skills, learning speed and academic grades. Student will gain a one to two year reading skill within six to eight weeks.
Let see what our next provider instil for the needy. The ‘eipautism‘are also have an outstanding programmes support by the expertise in their own respective handling. Before a child is placed under an Early Intervention Programme, a multidisciplinary evaluation or assessment must be carried out to determine the child’s developmental status, level of functioning, and provide a diagnosis. In general, children who are suspected of possible developmental delay or disability are referred by physicians and health related professionals to the programme. The referred children are assessed in several areas of development, namely, cognitive, communication, physical, social-emotional and adaptive behaviours. The multidisciplinary team would use a combination of standardized instruments and procedures, including a formal interview with parents to assess their children’s overall developmental status. Wherever necessary, a complete health assessment should be completed by the children’s primary caregiver.
The following are services that are usually offered by a standard Early Intervention Programme:
- Multidisciplinary team assessment
- Family and parent training, counselling
- Occupational therapy
- Speech and language therapy
- Psychological services
The programmes offers are as such:
Psychological Assessment
Education/ School Readiness Assessment
Speech and Language therapy
Occupational Therapy
Music Therapy
Social/ Play Skills
Additional Programmes:
1. The Preschool Programme
2. School Assistance Programme (Teacher Aide)
3. Remedial Programme
4. After school programme
I will elaborate more on the programmes that equip differently by the other competitors.
Behaviour Modification
Behaviour modification is simply translated to "changing one's behaviour". It is the application of behaviour principles to improve specific behaviours. However, this term has been used interchangeably with Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) and Behavioural Therapy. In ABA, it is behaviour modification in which there has been attempt to analyse or control the variables affecting the behaviour of concern, whereas behaviour therapy is behaviour modification carried out on dysfunctional behaviour, generally in a clinical setting. Hence, the term behaviour modification has a broader meaning and includes both Applied Behavioural Analysis and Behavioural Therapy.(35-40 hours /week)
The Lovas Approaches
The Lovaas Approach is just another term for the employment of techniques of Applied Behavioural Analysis and Discrete Trial Training. It is named after O. Ivar Lovaas who first demonstrated the efficacy of this approach. Using behaviour change techniques, Lovaas focused on strategies to teach social behaviours, eliminate self-stimulatory behaviours, and develop language skills in children with autism.
Occupational therapy
Occupational Therapy is therapy concerned with promoting health and the wellbeing through occupation. Occupation is activities that people do during the course of everyday life, which gives meaning and purpose to their lives (who you are and how you feel about yourself). The principal aim of occupational therapy is to help enhance a person's ability to participate in everyday activities. It focuses on working with people on every aspect of their daily lives that are essential for independent functioning, health and wellbeing to reduce avoidable dependency.
Speech Therapy
Help articulation skills are among the students; Most English-speaking children develop mature articulation skills and are able to pronounce all sounds accurately by about age 7 or 8. However, some children may exhibit inaccurate or distorted production of one or more sounds after age 7 or 8, and may need speech therapy to correct these distortions.
Music therapy
Music therapists work in a variety of settings, including educational, medical, psychiatric, day care treatment centres, rehabilitative facilities, correctional facilities, halfway houses and gerontology facilities. In all work settings, music therapists function as part of the multi-disciplinary team, their observations adding greatly to the understanding of each client’s needs, abilities or problems. Music is the primary therapeutic tool. Using music to establish a trusting relationship, the music therapist then works to facilitate contact, interaction, self-awareness, learning, self-expression, communication and personal development through carefully structured activities. Examples can include:
Singing - Used to help people with speech impairments improve their articulation, rhythm and breathe control. In a group setting individuals develop a greater awareness of theirs by singing together. Lyrics are used to help people with mental disabilities sequence a task.
Listening - It helps develop cognitive skills such as attention and memory. It facilitates the process of coming to terms with difficult issues by providing a creative environment for self-expression. Actively listening to music in a relaxed and receptive state stimulates thoughts, images and provides a way to explore and understand our own and other cultures.
Instruments - Can improve gross and fine motor coordination individuals with motor impairments. Playing in instrumental ensembles helps a person with behavioural problems to learn how to control disruptive impulses by working within a group structure. Learning a piece of music and performing it develops musical skills and helps a person builds self-reliance, self-esteem and self-discipline.
Composing - Is used to develop cooperative learning and to facilitate the parents to adapt to new and unfamiliar techniques, the effects of continuous training will produce rewarding and long-lasting results. They will share of feelings, ideas and experiences. For hospitalized children, writing a song is a means of expressing and understanding fears.
Rhythmic movement – This method will facilitate and improve an individual’s range of motion, joint mobility/agility/strength, balance, co-ordination, gait consistency, respiration patterns and muscular relaxation. The rhythmic component of music helps to increase motivation, interest and enjoyment and acts as a nonverbal persuasion to involve individuals socially.
Through whatever form the therapy takes, the therapist aims to facilitate positive changes in the behavioural, physical, cognitive or social functioning and emotional well-being of individuals with health or educational problems.

As for conclusion, both are well played programmes that cater the needs of individuals to exercises good learning abilities. They are two main elements that support individual needs. Yes it carries different tools to support these atypical groups yet harmonise in a lovely tunes together.
One that provides superb programmes and one in another hand drill on the systems that equip the child to learn in a new perspective that encourage them to perform well indeed.
In ‘KidzGrow’ focuses on the technology closer to achieve the skill to manifests a result orientation outcome whereby ‘eipaautism’ use the old school method of persistence to assist and developing stabilized learning abilities for these gifted soul.
As long as the end result is redeem by the children. The joy is for those who sustain to give and breed new ideas and methods for these gifted children and beyond.
